What Is Monster Integrity?
Monster Integrity is our commitment to environmentally responsible growing, transparency, and knowing exactly what goes into the plants we cultivate. For our seed and fruit production grows, Monster Peppers chooses not to use any forms of pesticide applications whether naturally or synthetically derived during cultivation, harvest, or storage. We also believe growers and consumers deserve clear communication about bioengineering and other agricultural practices that may influence the products they buy.
Simply put, we want you to know how your seeds were grown.
For most people, this sounds like what “organic” means. However, as of right now, even the certification "Certified Organic" from the United States government does not come with this same guarantee. What many consumers may not realize is that Certified Organic growers are still permitted to use certain approved pesticides under USDA standards. This is where the label can become confusing, because many people naturally associate “organic” with “pesticide free,” even though the two are not the same claim. “Certified Organic” are allowed to use “approved pesticides”. This a practice done in Big Business in Agriculture. This contradiction between organic labeling and the use
of potentially harmful pesticides lies in the relative leniency of the
United States Department Of Agriculture (USDA) organic guidelines.
Thus, “Certified Organic” does not necessarily mean pesticide-free. The legal definition of organic may be different from what many consumers assume the word guarantees and we believe that distinction should be easier to understand. When buying organic products, it can be easy to assume that no pesticides were used. That is not always the case. We believe consumers should understand what labels actually guarantee, what they do not, and the growing practices behind the products they purchase. It’s important for consumers to understand the labeling of organic products and know what's going on in this industry. So, be mindful of the labels. All of them.
Monster Integrity Means
No pesticide applications.We choose not to apply pesticides during our seed and fruit production grows, whether naturally or synthetically derived. Small Batch Growing. Our seeds are produced through limited seasonal grows, allowing us to give greater attention to individual plants, seed selection, and the health of each variety. Thoughtful Seed Selection. We select seed from healthy plants that best represent the characteristics we are working to preserve or develop. Transparency Over Labels. We believe growers deserve to know how their seeds were produced. Instead of suggesting that one certification or label automatically makes a product better, we explain the standards we choose to follow.
Organic Does Not Mean Pesticide-Free
For many consumers, “organic” has become synonymous with “pesticide free,” but the two are not the same. USDA Certified Organic production may still use certain approved substances for pest and disease management, including naturally derived materials and some synthetic substances specifically permitted under organic regulations. Organic certification establishes a regulated set of production standards, it is not a guarantee that pesticides were never used. That does not make organic farming dishonest or unsafe. It simply means the legal meaning of “organic” may be different from what some consumers assume the label guarantees. We believe consumers deserve to understand that distinction without having to dig through regulations or approved substance lists to discover it. Monster Integrity exists so there is less ambiguity about our own approach. When we say during our seed and fruit production plants were grown without pesticide applications, whether naturally or synthetically derived, we mean it. WE DO NOT USE THEM! That is the standard we choose to follow.
Natural Doesn't Automatically Mean Safer
We also do not believe something should be considered safe simply because it is natural, or harmful simply because it is synthetic. Every agricultural input should be considered according to what it is, how it is used, its environmental effects, and the risks associated with exposure. Our goal is not to build our growing philosophy around fear of chemicals. Our goal is to use as little intervention as reasonably possible and make responsible decisions based on evidence and experience.
Why We Do It
Growing this way can require more observation, patience, experimentation, and sometimes accepting that nature gets the better of us. That is part of growing. We would rather lose a plant, learn from it, and improve our methods than make promises about our seeds that we cannot stand behind.
